Most googled people of Pakistan
Like every year, Google just came out with its annual Year In Search which reveals the top searches of a country for that specific year. This year’s list for the most searched people in Pakistani had some very obvious results..and some not so obvious ones too. It was surprising to see some of our neighbors from across the border and some Pakistani spies, ex Pakistani’s make it in the top ten as well.
Without further ado, here are the much awaited results:
1. Naimal Khawar
With her gorgeous looks and amazing artistic talent plus fabulous acting chops, it’s no wonder that Naimal tops the list for most searched person in Pakistan this year. The NCA graduate who mad her debut in the 2017 Shoaib Mansoor flick Verna, was the talk of the town this year with news of her wedding to actor, Hamza Ali Abassi. Ironically, her arguably much more popular celebrity husband, did not make it anywhere in the top ten of this list.
2. Waheed Murad
The OG chocolaty hero of Lollywood who received a plethora of awards for his contribution to Pakistani cinema, including a Sitar-e-Imtiaz would have celebrated his 81st birthday in October this year. To mark this prolific moment, Google dedicated a Doodle to mark the birth of this icon.
3. Babar Azam
The talented vice captain of the Pakistani cricket team has already broken many records in his relatively small career. At just 25, he’s the only batsman in ODI history to score 5 consecutive centuries in one country as well holds the record for most runs (1306) in first 25 ODIs innings by any batsman in the world. Specifically in 2019, in the match against New Zealand, Babar became the fastest batsman for Pakistan, in terms of innings, to score 3,000 runs in ODIs.
He also controversially replaced Captain Sarfaraz Ahmed as the new captain for ODIs.
4. Asif Ali
Although the 27 year old batsman experienced a meteoric rise in popularity with a whopping number 4 spot on the most searched list, 2019 also had him experience some incredibly unfortunate losses.The cricketer’s two year old daughter lost her life after an arduous battle with cancer earlier this year.
5. Adnan Sami
It’s no surprise to see this controversial ex-Pakistani singer making this list, especially for his controversial political statements and battles with online trolls generating a constant online buzz. Earlier this year, Major Adnan Sami became the butt of all jokes when he was trolled for being a Pakistani spy on Twitter. In fact, even his Wikipedia page got edited to include this information.
6. Sara Ali Khan
The only Bollywood actress in the list, Sarah is no stranger to fame. Whether is for her mega popular parents, Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh, or her incredible acting chops, Sarah has the public transfixed. She’s also incredibly candid and refreshingly genuine.
7. Mohammad Amir
The talented cricketer experienced immense success in 2019 and was even awarded as the leading wicket taker in the 2019 Cricket World Cup for 17 dismissals in just eight matches. Amir also made headlines in 2019 for announcing his retirement from Test Cricket in order to focus on limited overs cricket.
8. Alizeh Shah
The youngest name on the list, 23 year old Alizeh Shah is definitely one of the most talented emerging stars in the Pakistani entertainment industry scene. In 2019, she stole audience’s hearts by playing Mahira Khan’s mischievous younger sister in the mega hit film “Super Star” and currently continues to shine on screen with her portrayal of Dua on acclaimed TV drama, “Ehd-e-Wafa“. She also got proposed to by a 60 year old fan.
9. Abhinandan Varthaman
The Indian Air Force officer had social media running ablaze when news of his capture in Pakistan became public and videos of him in custody started doing rounds online. Although the officer was returned to India after a mere 60 hours as a gesture of peace he has become a celebrity for his appreciation of Pakistani tea. SSSRRRUP.
10. Madiha Naqvi
The charismatic and beautiful TV host and anchor’s marriage with notable MQM politician, Faisal Sabzwari had social media running gaga and earned her the final spot in this year’s most searched people for Pakistan.
