I dunno about you but birthdays are a BIG DEAL. It’s a reflection of all you’ve achieved in the past year on top of grade A expectations from the year ahead. The very least you can do is blow up some balloons, get some party hats, there’s always that one guy in charge of the snow sprays and of course, cake cake cake cake.

And how can we forget, bachpan mein tou hamesha aik annoying bacha hota tha jo apki candles blow kerkay apke cake ko kaatna chahta hay.

Like, go eye your own cake, why don’t you kiddo?

But beyond cake and possessiveness of the said cake, there’s one birthday celebration that REALLY stands out.

Khaadi’s 18th birthday celebrations kicked off early this week with the launch of “Choo Liya Aasmaan” featuring the very talented All Girl Band.

THE SQUAD includes Anna Salman on vocals, Kristin Kanaria on guitar, Jannat Sohail on ukelele, Arfa Chaudry on Sitar, Amal Nadeen on violin, Mishal Faheem on drums, Maham Riaz on harmonium and piano and Sumaira Waris on table.

There are some REAAAALLY TRIPPY shots of the girls performing in Khaadi’s very own factory.

On top of racks and piles and piles of carton boxes.

Tucked in between looms and threads with Sitaar, the perfect companion.

Performing right in between running weaving machines.

These girls know all about theatrics, don’t they?

Loaded with shehenaiyaan for the extra birthday touch.

AND CONFETTI

The girls even RAPPED for Khaadi???

Pls note their superior aesthetic and the east meets west vibe in their outfits

Looking at the huge production facilities, hundreds of team members and fifty stores across the world, can you possibly imagine where it all started from? CEO Shamoon Sultan tells MangoBaaz, “Reflecting on the past 18 years brings back amazing memories along with some life learned lessons. I remember sitting with my karigars on the only 5 handlooms that I could afford at that time, dreaming about a great future for my brand.”

The response has been HEART-WARMING

One of the members, Jannat Sohail told MangoBaaz, “A mother called us from Peshawar, letting us know that she will now allow her daughter to pursue music as a career after she saw the diversity infused in our band, and she said she’s also motivated to work to help bring forth equality!”

Happy birthday, Khaadi. Thanks for celebrating IN STYLE. These ladies are blowing us away and we’re standing by them every step of the way.
