This Kid Tried To Kill Himself For Aamir Liaquat TWICE And Everyone Just Laughed It Off

Unfortunately, at the moment, we are all too familiar with the concept of suicide. With the recent deaths of Kate Spade and Anthony Bourdain, the topic of mental health has been at an all-time high.

Which is why, when this kid went on live TV and said he tried to kill himself twice for Aamir Liaquat, it was NOT funny.

At ALL.

During the show, a member of the audience was being interviewed, and in doing so, the viewer introduced her son, Muhammad Ali and revealed that he had tried to commit suicide twice for Aamir Liaquat.

The host of the show immediately drew his attention to her son and even held his wrists to see the cuts her son had made.

And that wasn’t even the worst part. Muhammad Ali took the mic and sang a song for Liaquat, in which he said that he loved him so much that he took a blade to his arms for him, at which everyone, including the host and Liaquat, laughed.

THEY LAUGHED at an attempted suicide.

Giving him the benefit of the doubt, Liaquat clearly was not amused by the talk of suicide and immediately went over to Ali and told him that what he did was wrong. However, that’s the most he did.

Of course, after that, they continued to laugh off his attempt at killing himself and instead of using the opportunity to speak about mental health, went on with the show.

‘Ramazan Mein Bol,’ was previously hosted by Aamir Liaquat, but due to a problematic episode involving a question regarding religion, he was banned by PEMRA and the High Court from appearing on TV. Liaquat has however been allowed to appear on his Ramazan transmission, just not as a host.

In the past, he has been known for drawing attention to himself in ways that may not be the most conventional or culturally sensitive and this is arguably one of the worst accounts of this.

It also opens up the conversation around these shows. PEMRA banned Liaquat because he created ‘unwarranted drama’ on the show. Though one cannot prepare for an audience member to act on their own terms, producers of the show could have easily confronted the problems in a more appropriate and responsible way.

Instead, everyone continued to laugh and joke around, completely ignoring the fact that this kid had attempted suicide in the name of a TV host. Clearly, we need to rethink the impact these shows have on the masses and how that narrative NEEDS to be changed.
