Aamir Liaquat has never been one to shy away from the limelight, whether he likes it or not. And though most of the time it may be harmless and entertaining, other times, it has proved to be quite detrimental.
Following controversial statements made by Aamir Liaquat on religion on LIVE TELEVISION, the TV show host has been banned by PEMRA from appearing on television for the next 30 days.
For those of you who haven’t heard about what’s been going down on the news lately, here’s a quick recap.
While on his show, Doctor Liaquat received a phone call from a viewer, regarding a question on Hazrat Ali and Khilafat. Upon hearing the question, Liaquat threw what can only be described as a tantrum, throwing his hands up, shouting at the caller, and subsequently walking off his own set.

A situation that could have easily been avoided, turned into a controversial debate and invited allegations that the show was instigating sectarian conflict and pushed PEMRA to issue a ban on Liquat for 30 days, for ‘unwarranted drama.’
Apart from that, the TV show host was also blamed for using Religion as a way to gain viewership, increase ratings and create sensation around the show.
Clearly, the tactic backfired.
However, one also has to question, shouldn’t this blame be shared with the network? Shouldn’t have the producers stepped in? These Ramazan shows are all sensational. A number of them have already been flagged by PEMRA and it seems as though not much has changed from their direct intervention.
What’s even worse, is that this ban is probably going to bring more ratings, higher viewership and no change in the Ramazan TV show circuit.
And though that may be another conversation to have, this is not the first time that Aamir Liaquat has been banned from Television,
The previous ban was also implemented due to Liaquat’s opinions on religion. And by the looks of the way things are going, it doesn’t seem like this is going to be the last time he’s going to be in hot water thanks to his hosting tendencies.
What did you think of the banning? Do you think the blame is rightly applied? What do you thiiiink? Let us know in the comments below! Love you.
