As Pakistanis, we know that one of the most beautiful and intricate examples of our creativity is expressed through our Mehndi designs.
Yup, BEAUTIFUL.
Except for this time, we found something a little different…
This Twitter user ‘@Alyees,’ put Mehndi on his hands and honestly, we’re wondering why no one has tried it sooner.

HOW GOOD DOES THAT LOOK.
The thread went on to continue the use of the term, ‘Putting men in mehndi,’
anyone that comes at this with negative energy needs to do the same to ranbir kapoor or any guy getting tattoos. you can’t have double standards. designs, colors, tattoos, henna are not limited to femininity. if you can’t see that then you are blind lmfao. https://t.co/mkMpwntEGN

these pics are so old but i saw some ignorance on my timeline and decided to share these. my masculinity isn’t fragile so i’m not even concerned in the slightest with what a few insecure guys and even women have to say lol

and honestly we all know the gender discrepancies in society, especially in desi culture. but if you can’t get past something as little as this, then you need to re-evaluate before you claim to be a supporter of inclusivity. anyways thank you for coming to my ted talk.

i got this same design over 2 yrs ago too. i get it done every eid and even for my sister’s shaadi. no one has ever once told me to take it off, including my parents. my mom even does it for me lol. so yeah hate is learned open up ya damn mind, ya grown.https://t.co/a5DvkNIRaH

The whole thread was Alyees’s whole philosophy on putting mehndi on his hands and being ONE HUNDRED percent okay with it and in fact, pretty much rocking it.

Alyees made it clear to see that the constraints gender expectations put on us are absolutely ridiculous and unfair. Who has EVER set in stone that Mehndi is something meant specifically for women? Literally not one person.
Though many of us have probably not thought about this specific form of beauty on a dude, whose to say we can’t
And no sooner were a ton of men commenting with their own mehndi designs and experiences.
Did one for my brother in law. Have done it multiple times for my cousin too! It’s fun trying out new styles on guys😁 pic.twitter.com/RtfJBGvYiA
