Sheheryar Afridi got a ministry that doesn’t even exist
As you all know, several ministers were replaced or ousted in a major cabinet reshuffling on Thursday following the resignation of Finance Minister Asad Umer.
Among the recently reshuffled ministers was State Minister for Interior Shehryar Khan Afridi, who was given charge of the Ministry of States and Frontier Regions (SAFRON)
Interestingly, it is a ministry that was devolved last year.
The Ministry of SAFRON – let’s ignore the spicy name – was abolished following the merger of Federally Administrated Tribal Areas and Khyber Pakhtunkwa. The main responsibilities of the ministry are to deal with problems that tribal areas of Pakistan Frontier Regions of Pakistan and Federally Administered Tribal Areas face, but after the merger of KP and FATA, the provincial government was given the charge to solve issues of the residents of FATA.
It was told then that the provincial ministers would take care of FATA and hence, the government was abolishing SAFRON. Since September, no one had taken charge of this position.

Since the reshuffling people have got a lot to discuss about. From trolling Chief Minister Usman Buzdar to survive the ‘reshuffle’ to jokes around Firdous Ashiq Awan’s appointment as Advisor for Information Minister, Pakistanis have taken to social media to express their views regarding these changes in their own ways.
