Not the best moment to have a slip of the tongue.
Let’s face it, Pakistan’s beloved professional boxer and superstar Amir Khan can be a bit of trouble magnet.
Love him, but the British-Pakistani boxer’s professional life mixed in the scandals of his personal life all lead up to pretty massive spectacles that sadly make him into social media’s laughing stock from time to time.
And in his latest interview regarding Pakistan’s future at the ICC World Cup, Khan finds himself yet again at the forefront of another social media troll campaign.
While being asked about Pakistan’s chances at winning the World Cup, Amir Khan said that it depended on how the ‘match was fixed.”

Great answer Amir!
Obviously, and you can judge this based off of Amir’s face, this statement was a slip of the tongue. In the interview, what Khan really meant to say, was that with all the teams, the outcome really depended on the way the matches were drawn, which team ended up playing with who.
Unfortunately, in his statement, it seemed as if he was alluding to the fact that the ICC World Cup had already been fixed with a determined team set to win. Match-fixing is a super serious allegation in the sports world, highly illegal and extremely frowned upon in virtually all sports all over the world.
Suffice to say, Amir realized the fuck-up as soon as it happened.
Poor thing.
And not surprisingly, people all over social media realized the slip-up as well.
Match fixers right now! pic.twitter.com/cznvCFCtdK

People on social media have been trolling Amir Khan for the mistake in his interview and it doesn’t seem as though they’re about to stop anytime soon.
Probably been hit in the head too many times.

Clearly, most of us knew exactly what Amir really meant.
I think he mean fixtures as in schedule

But lol, trollers are gonna troll.

It was a super innocent mistake that led to a pretty big influx of trolls. However, no real backlash to worry about, just some innocent fun.
Pakistanis are definitely big fans of the British-Pakistani boxer but even bigger fans of a chance to crack a joke. This was clearly a mix-up and a bit of a reminder to Amir to choose his words carefully. Much of the ICC Cup remains so probably better to fix that up now then later when it can really come back to bite him in the ass.
Honestly, at least Amir’s accidental words are being better received than Shoaib Akhtar’s intentional statements regarding Pakistani cricket team members. So far it looks like the World Cup for us has been about everything else but cricket. If we want a real shot at winning, let’s hope the team and everyone else with an opinion of the team is able to keep their shit together for the remainder of this Cup so we actually have a shot to bring that title home.
What did you think of Amir’s interview? What do you think of Amir? Let us know in the comments below! Love you.
