When you think about Malala Yousafzai and Shehzad Roy, you don’t imagine the two crossing paths very often. I mean sure, they’re both activists and all. But what are the odds that Malala and Roy would be casually chilling together?
Well, turns out, Shehzad Roy has been teaching Malala how to play chess.
Chess is a mind sport and it should be a part of our school curriculum. @ZindagiTrust adopted a govt school, SMB Fatima jinnah which has produced a national champion in chess. Here I am trying to teach @Malala how to play chess. Must say that she is a quick learner pic.twitter.com/ZEhZislrYh

Can we just back up a moment here? I mean, what a glorious picture, tbh:

Apparently, Malala is a quick learner, and we can’t wait to see who ends up being the better Chess player.
*Enter Pakistani journalist, (and self-proclaimed “Lord of Trolls”) Zarrar Khuhro*

Khuhro saw an opportunity (perhaps to troll) and went in. He openly challenged both Malala and Shehzad Roy.
Ill beat both of you. Open challenge
— Zarrar Khuhro (@ZarrarKhuhro) September 22, 2018
His challenge was met with many varying reactions on Twitter by Pakistanis. It definitely stirred up a conversation.
Some doubted his abilities.
O bhy ja paae ina tu chess champ.
— Usama Malik (@usamamalik_UM) September 22, 2018
I mean, taking on both Malala AND Shehzad Roy? Hmm, seems a bit ambitious.
A few offered their own challenges.
I think i can beat all three of you.
— Asad (@exanimo_) September 22, 2018
Sir, when you win from them, then final will be between you and me.
— Naila iqbal (@Nailaiqbal19) September 22, 2018
Haan haan, kyunke Chess toh halwa hai.
This person seems to want to take the game to a whole different level. And we are kind of intrigued, tbh.
We need a three player chess. It eill be like current Geopolitical quagmire. The question is, which one of you will pick US, and who will go for Russia and China?
— Rehman H. Sattar (@rhsattar) September 22, 2018
And he can count Zarrar Khuhro in because Khuhro actually responded.
I pick china
— Zarrar Khuhro (@ZarrarKhuhro) September 22, 2018
Others were quick to point out Khuhro’s trolling habits.
sir kabhi kabhi janay bhi day deya karein
@ShehzadRoy @asadmkh @ZindagiTrust @Malala— Imtiaz Haidery (@imhaidery) September 22, 2018
Trolling again.
— Mona (@MarwaNaughty) September 22, 2018
BUT we don’t have to wait much longer to actually see this challenge unfold. As luck would have it, Shehzad Roy chanced upon the tweet.
And what do you know, he accepted the challenge.
Challenge qabool hai sir https://t.co/hvHLO96Z5g
— Shehzad Roy (@ShehzadRoy) September 22, 2018
Ab basically, Pakistanis cannot wait.
I wanna see the competition
— Iffat Hussain (@Iffathossein) September 22, 2018
Aha! challenge accepted 😆
— Fans Of Shehzad Roy (@FnzOfShehzadRoy) September 22, 2018
In fact, people are now waiting for this to play out AND they want proof.
Later upload video so we have proof
— aizaamin (@aizaamin03) September 22, 2018
The trio would definitely be an interesting mix of people – talent and intellect-wise, too. And if this Chess match does take place, we’d be down to watch who wins. Let us know who you’re siding with in this battle between Zarrar Khuhro, Malala Yousafzai and Shehzad Roy.
