Veena Malik Just Criticized Hamza Ali Abbasi For Defending Iqra And Yasir's PDA And It's Getting MESSY

By Sajeer Shaikh | 9 Jul, 2019

Here’s a sentence I never thought I’d write: Veena Malik is throwing shade at Hamza Ali Abbasi for defending Iqra and Yasir’s PDA.

Iqra Aziz and Yasir Hussain’s PDA has stirred the conversational pot when it comes to Pakistani internet. Log pagal hogaye hain. People are either on their side, or they’re using the culture card to call out the public proposal.

One of the people who surprisingly defended the proposal was Hamza Ali Abbasi. In a rather…unexpected move, he asked trolls to back off and let the happy, engaged couple be. While some called him out for hypocrisy, others were glad that he was standing up for a harmless display of affection.

However, one person who isn’t at all satisfied with Hamza speaking up is his current Pakistan Star host, Veena Malik. Veena had some reservations about, well, everything, and she took to Twitter to share her thoughts.

Let me break it down for ya.

She starts off by talking about how she’s working in the industry after a break of almost nine years, and how she and Hamza have become acquaintances.

She states, “What I know about him so far [is] that he’s [someone] who is upright, high principled, virtuous & [has] impressed me so much in all walks of life.”

Veena goes on to praise Hamza, stating that she was only taken aback till his recent tweets surfaced:

“Be it his acting, hosting, judging, but his thoughts which he usually [tweets] & always takes [a] stand [for the] right & always clearly [calls] out wrong. Also just recently saw a video of [yours] on God which made me realize that [you] are insightful, cultured & enlightened, and then [these] tweets came up,” she states.

Veena then states that religion shouldn’t be used to justify a couple’s PDA, while congratulating the couple as they “preferred Halal over Haram.”

“Nowhere in [our] religion Quran [is it] written [that you] can hug & kiss before Nikkah. I think we shouldn’t bring religion [to] support their PDA. [Two] wrongs don’t make a right. Of course, congratulations to the couple & so happy that they’ll get married & preferred Halal over Haram.”

However, then she goes on to criticize the proposal itself.

“How the proposal ended wasn’t appropriate as the act was utterly uncultured. We live in a Muslim country. [Our] religion & culture both [don’t] allow that & such acts [are] looked down upon. [You] rightly said that this era isn’t like the previous [pne.] Now [you] have to show a lot of more responsibility & moral ethics towards society. This PDA doesn’t represent [our] moral & cultural values, let alone religious. Every Media personality [has] a responsibility towards society, people follow them. So, they [are] not supposed to set wrong examples for] the masses.”

Veena Malik then caps off her message with a question for Hamza Ali Abbasi.

“[You] are talking about Haram and Halal & yet defending the kisses before Nikkah? If someone is following Islam and doing Nikkah then why [do] Haram before Nikkah? Even for some Halal acts, you can’t go public so they should have been a little careful!!”

That’s…quite a loaded message. And to reiterate, she shared it on Instagram as well.

I guess we all wait for Hamza to respond. Or maybe this will all just die down. For now, everyone seems to have an opinion on this and it’s all HELLA messy. Let me know what you think about this in the comments below.
