This New Syra Yousuf Ad With Red Cape Films Was Pulled Off In The Most Unexpected Way

By MangoBaaz Studio | 8 Sep, 2020

Syra Yousuf teamed up with Red Cape Films and Bisconni to give us all a mesmerizingly breathtaking ad

We often see big-budget ads in Pakistan set in picturesque places and it is obvious that they aren’t shot in the country. The ad for Bisconni’s Chocolatto was to follow the same route with shoot locations decided as either Turkey or Poland. However, when the global pandemic hit and brought the world to a stop things didn’t exactly pan out as planned.

The shoot for Syra Yousuf’s new ‘Chocolatto’ ad was canceled for the foreseeable future after the lockdown… that is, until RED CAPE FILMS  joined the party

When Sabir Godil, GM Marketing Bisconni, was talking to Shahrukh Hayat, the Executive Producer, about how they could go forward with the ad, he asked if it was possible to shoot it in Pakistan, and there was no looking back after that.

Shahrukh Hayat is one of the youngest, if not THE youngest, Executive Producers working in Pakistan right now

He started his career working for MTV Pakistan and then joined Coke Studio, he has had a stellar career over the past 15 years. He was also the brains behind the first MTV VMAs in Pakistan by directing and producing the whole thing at the young age of 21.

He is also the CEO of RED CAPE FILMS, the company behind this stunning ad.

They undertook one of the biggest projects in Pakistan’s advertisement history

Shahrukh teamed up with director Farooq Mannan and both of them brought their vision to life. They shot the ad in Pakistan’s biggest shooting floors for eight days so that they could get every single detail of the set right.

Shahrukh said that the team worked day and night to make this possible. He even talked about how working with the director Farooq Mannan was amazing because he delivered exactly what they envisioned and I think Sabir, Farooq and RED CAPE gelled in quite well which made the execution very smooth.

He also talked about how Syra Yousuf was the perfect ‘Chocolatto Girl’, and it was like the role was made for her. They had initially wanted a luxurious and decadent set to complement Syra Yousuf, the ‘Chocolatto Girl’, and they did not compromise on that vision.

Shahrukh also talked about how, because they were working during a pandemic, they made sure to take every safety measure that they could. Since Syra was to star in the ad, she did not don a hazmat suit and anyone who went near her or interacted with her had to be in full protective gear.

The team was immensely happy with the results of the television commercial. Their hard work truly did pay off because the set looks like a dream

Even Syra herself couldn’t stop singing praise for the experience. She said, “it was a wonderful experience indeed. Each and every team member was extremely professional and respectful. Despite the long hours, they managed to keep the vibe and atmosphere very pleasant. I would love to work with them again”.

This just goes to show that international standards can be met in Pakistan if you have the right team with the right resources

We honestly could not believe that this was a world they created in just a few days. It was such a gorgeous backdrop to Syra’s beauty and grace in her red dress. All in all, it is a pretty great feat to produce such a brilliant ad during a global pandemic.
