By Sajeer Shaikh | 22 Jan, 2018

The past few years have paved way for certain topics to be discussed. As we move towards a world where we’re more open to dialogue, let’s prepare ourselves to hear a lot more about the following this new year:

1. Feminism

Because the more conversation and awareness there is around it, the closer we get to achieving equality.

2. Climate change

Because as much as we may like to believe that it’s a myth, it’s very, very real.

3. Environmental issues in general, actually

Because the smog was a testament to the damage we’ve done. And that’s just one aspect of environmental damage.

5. Menstruation

Because we’re still iffy about a natural process, and that hinders us from understanding complications and basic concepts related to it.

6. Sexual health

Because

a) our knowledge in this area is next to none

b) we still believe this is something to haw haye over

c) there are countless complications that we’re not aware of since we’ve closed off the topic for discussion.

7. Domestic violence

Because unfortunately, for many men and women, this is a reality – a routine they survive, day in and day out.

8. Trans rights

Because we’re just beginning to realize that transgenders deserve respect and acceptance. But we still have a long way to go.

9. Honor killings and sexual assault

10. Men

Because let’s face it, we need to be there for our men too. Their issues are valid as well.
