Pakistanis Are Seriously Disgusted That PM Imran Khan Held An In-Person Meeting While COVID-19 Positive

By Sana Yasmeen | 26 Mar, 2021

PM Imran Khan is COVID-19 positive and recklessly held a meeting, risking other people’s lives

Just recently, Special Assistant to Prime Minister, Faisal Sultan shared the unfortunate news of Prime <inister Imran Khan testing positive for COVID-19. The news came off as a shock to the people and in no time, social media was abuzz with people questioning the effectiveness of the vaccine, the first dose of which Imran Khan had received just two days prior to testing positive. Many experts weighed in, reminding people, that vaccine effectiveness kicks in after both doses have been administered and even then vaccine effectiveness is not absolute.

The PM immediately went into isolation and continued updating his fans while he was supposed to be recovering from the virus

Well, yesterday, despite having recently tested positive for the deadly coronavirus, PM Imran Khan was lauded by his fellow party leaders for conducting an in-person meeting at his residence

The Prime Minister hosted and attended the meeting with the media team at his residence with only a face mask and barely any consideration towards the isolation protocol that ought to be followed by the COVID-19 patients.

People were quick to react and condemn the highly irresponsible example being set by the PM

People were appalled at the way PM Imran Khan blatantly shunned isolation and defied the SOPs that his own Government has been trying to make people of Pakistan follow

Not only did he put the attendees of the meeting at high risk, but he also blatantly violated all SOPs.

Doctors – frontline fighters who have been laying their lives in front of an unseen enemy for the rest of us – were extremely frustrated at seeing this

Some also argued that this behavior from the Prime Minister could lead to a drastic rise in COVID-19 cases in the country with people seeing this and thinking that it’s okay for ordinary citizens to mingle despite being positive

With people following the lead of PM  Imran Khan, there is a high possibility of a drastic surge in the COVID-19 cases all around the nation.

Others were inclined to believe conspiracy theories that the Prime Minister wasn’t actually infected when his positive diagnosis was announced earlier

People even put up examples of how other nations are dealing with such situations to try to drill some sense into the PM

Some even shared how people they know were infected by having met with people who had recently been diagnosed

Of course, jokes were cracked about this hilariously stupid action

But basically

Undoubtedly, the irresponsible example being set by PM Imran Khan could prove to bring forth a surge in COVID cases. At a time when the virus is surging yet again in Pakistan with the country’s positivity ratio at the highest level in 2021 he should apologize for the extremely reckless example he just set.

Do you have anything to say regarding the clear violation of SOPs by the PM? Let us know in the comment below.
