LEAVE ANDAY WALA BURGERS ALONE.
Anday wala burgers mean a lot more than just a meal in Pakistan.
No no, a good anday wala burger is one of our national meals, right alongside Biryani and Nehari. (And Halwa Puri and Pulao and obviously Jalebis.) You get my point.
Each city has its own special spot for these burgers. Lahore has Lasani, Karachi has Mirchili and even Islamabad has it’s very own Nagina. But one place that should not be serving these burgers seems to be getting ready to warm their buns.
McDonald’s has been heavily hinting at an anday wala burger addition to their menu.
We know you were messing @Aligulpir but we have taken you seriously. If you get enough people on your side, you will get #AndayWalaBurger

And honestly, it’s bullshit.
Anday wala burgers are meant to be enjoyed in the comfort of your car in a parking lot or on your way to Nathia on the side of a road at a khoka with your friends. Though they may not look super fancy or sophisticated, these burgers are pretty much an everyday delicacy for all Pakistanis.
So obviously, when the fast-food giant started dropping hints about coming out with their very own anday wala burger,’ Pakistanis took it personally.
The elite form of Anday Waala Burger?

Dear Ali Gul Pir, please leave anday wala burger alone and let it be left out item for any food chain to consider, It is one of the most genuine fodd items that are available on the streets of Pakistan, Mainly in Karachi. #AndayWalaBurger

bhai tjhe Allah ka wasta hai north karachi aja, mast anday wala burger khilao ga. But ye ik item reh gya hai that has no glamour and artificial luxury in it. Let it be out of the fancy restaurants!
— Student of BugsBunny (@Saadbuksh) March 27, 2019
No.
Let some small scale business be left for poors who can't start a @McDonalds @McDonaldsPK @Aligulpir plz

Surely there will be many against the idea.
Bun kebab just aint fast frozen food genre. The patty needs to be fried in egg right then, a very fluffy whisked egg, and the bun bread fried all sidrs. Plus the chutneys: dont burger or westernise this, please #AndayWalaBurger https://t.co/kBhq40UxVX

The brand even seemed to rope in social media influencers such as Ali Gul Pir and Cynthia D. Ritchie who tweeted about wanting a good anday wala burger.
Mujhe #AndayWalaBurger kon khilayega? pic.twitter.com/OkCv2YJQPj

Dear @McDonaldsPK;
I'll humbly volunteer my services as a quality control taste tester when #AndayWalaBurger is served at the Islamabad location.
Thanking you in advance.

Ugh.
And look, before we start attacking the brand full-on, the plan does seem like a good one. In theory, adding an anday wala burger to the menu is a pretty genius way of adding in that national and desi touch that will bring a whole new demographic of taste buds.
However, on the other hand, this huge corporate brand is coming in and taking a local dish, commercializing it and slapping a pretty price tag on it for their own profit.
Yeah and then charge 400 for something worth 40.
— Ausaf Ur Rehman (@ausie13) March 26, 2019
You don't exactly see McDonalds sell high priced food items do you? #AndayWalaBurger costs about 90 rs i guess and McDonanlds will costs you 700 for this Lol picture that, that's risible ghalat deal kerli @Aligulpir !! P.S I ❤️ quarter pounder @McDonaldsPK 🤓
— Marium Sheikh (@mariumsheikh) March 26, 2019
It’s like revealing a national secret and then charging people an arm and a leg for it.
I ain't paying Rs 200 for an #AndayWalaBurger. https://t.co/jW8eDCGc51

The chain has yet to officially release the burger and though we are sceptical about the creation, we’ll just have to stay tuned and watch the madness unfold.
Have you heard about the burger? What do you think? Into it? Let us know what you think in the comments below! Love you.
