Talk about April Fool’s day gone wrong.
The Pakistani government just increased petrol prices by 6 rupees/litre.
And suffice to say, people have been losing their shit since.
Following an international hike in the price of crude oil, the Government of Pakistan decided on Sunday to increase the prices of all petroleum products in the country.
According to an article, petrol and diesel have been set to Rs. 6 per litre while Kerosene and light diesel oil are to be increased by Rs. 3 by the litre, effective immediately. This is a huge difference in pricing and the highest it’s been in the last 9 to 10 months.

And more than being mad about the general increase in prices, many have been calling out Imran Khan for his stance now compared to his stance on price increases in the past.

Everyone is super pissed at the price, considering that ‘Naya Pakistan’ promised them a better quality of life, which includes the price tags on oil prices. The conversation has started the trend ‘#Petrol Bomb’ and people can’t stop talking about it.
So while being in the opposition, hiking petrol price was a burden of taxes on the poor masses according to the Prime Minister but now that he is in the government, he is doing the same thing in an even worse way. Many of us are sitting around hoping for someone to break the news that it was an April Fool’s joke, but alas, it doesn’t seem to be the case. Oh and the cherry on top of THAT is that the government is likely to increase electricity and gas rates as well.
The increase has pretty much caused a disaster in Pakistan and it’s like staring into the sun because we can’t look away. People are not happy with the Government’s decision and it is certainly not the joke we were all hoping to hear.
