Imran Khan And Ahsan Iqbal Are Fighting Like School Children Over Some Really Old Photos

By Alveena Jadoon | 14 Nov, 2017

We all know that Pakistani politicians love to hate General Zia ul Haq.

Who wouldn’t? It is always nice to put the blame on one person. Political parties often accuse their opponents of being Zia apologists and following in his ideology.

But this time around, PTI and PML-N have taken a step forward to indulge in a war of old pictures. All to prove allegiance to Zia’s ideology.

The brilliant exchange of old photos was started by Imran Khan with this tweet

Now, if you look at the picture you will see nothing but hues of the past. And the men in it also look very calm. But Imran Khan was trying to point out that because Nawaz Sharif was in a picture with Zia, the party is supportive of coups and dictatorial rules. How that makes sense? Only Imran Khan can tell.

However, the response from PML-N was even better. Instead of ignoring the picture; they resorted to the same battle

Minister for Interior, Ahsan Iqbal, in a response to Imran Khan’s initial tweet replied by showing Imran Khan’s picture with General Musharraf – who again was a dictator.

It is so very cute (yet equally laughably pathetic) to see how pictures are being used as proof of ideology right before the elections.

Twitter awaam was not behind in joining the battle either

The battle between PMLN and PTI supporters is going full on.

And at best what they are doing is digging up old pictures. Isn’t that fun? It must surely be the only way to victory in the elections.

Even Maryam Nawaz could not refrain herself from getting to the battle ground. She tweeted about Imran Khan, saying

It is so nice to see that, at the end of the day, politicians are so very childish. They fight over pictures like us too and try to establish facts based on them. No wonder it is so easy to become a politician these days.

Makes me wonder that if only pictures decide who is more democratic then, who’s ready for a picture battle? I am.
