As most of you already know by now, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf urged the Punjab Assembly on Friday, yet again, demanding a ban to be put on the Japanese cartoon series Doraemon. The resolution was based on the arguments that the show features some explicit content that is not appropriate for the mental growth of the children.
Unfortunately, we, as a country, have grown so insecure that a cartoon series apparently need to be banned just because we cannot provide a better living environment for our children, on the whole. Out of all the monstrosities that have plagued Pakistan for the past 70 years, this is the only one our politicians could see. This happened last year, in August, as well and sadly nothing much has changed.
We, therefore, have prepared a list of all the things that should actually be banned in Pakistan, other than Doraemon.
1. Sexist comments and people.
So our analysts/columnists/writers spreading misogyny openly (who, by the way, our kids see all day, every day on every TV channel) does not concern you, at all?
2. The misogyny laced fatwas that have nothing to do with Islam
Let us all beat our wives lightly because that is so not going to affect our kids negatively, at all.
3. The JUI-F Senator who almost hit Marvi Sirmed
4. Aamir Liaquat

Or maybe these chooha parathay.
6. Equating English with high intellectual level
Honestly, how does knowing English equate to a high intellectual level?
And now on to the more general things…
7. The VIP culture
8. Sexual Harrasment/Catcalling

“Hey Shahzadi!”
How about you say those things to your mother.
9. Acid attacks
Watching innocent disfigured faces on their TV screens everyday, does not affect our kids’ mental growth, you know.
10. Discrimination against the transgenders
11. Bonded labor or child labor
Seeing their fellows working makes them just super happy or does it?
12. Child marriages
Or marriage against will, at all.
13. And the curbs on freedom of speech that harsh and unnecessary laws are putting
Like the cyber crimes bill, for example.
Ban karo lekin soch samajh ke karo.
