For many Muslims around the world, this year’s Champions League final was going to be a bit extra special courtesy Mo Salah.
— Mohamed Salah (@MoSalah) May 20, 2018
The Liverpool star and Egypt international, who had a breakout season and went on to win the PFA Player of the Year award, was riding into the final with not only the hopes of Liverpool fans but also many football-loving Muslims from around the world, including here in Pakistan. But facing Real Madrid, a team Mo Salah has been linked with for a possible transfer, was never going to be an easy feat especially in the Champions League final.
Especially when Sergio Ramos had a point to prove.
Which he did.
When he injured Salah…
And it definitely didn’t end well for Salah
And ended the Champions League final for Salah at half time
Here’s a video of it happening too if you want

When you have a player who’s riding high on so much popularity brought down by a player who, well is known for this sorta behavior, you can expect people to kinda, sorta, lose their shit. Just a lil. You know the drill, here’s how people responded:
This guy has zero chill
Let’s be honest here, Ramos has declared war with Islam

Even non-football fans got fired up
I don’t know who the fuck Ramos is but I know he’s a chutiya.

I’m def rooting for Liverpool now (it’s not like Arsenal is every making it to the CL final any time soon)
Honestly, that was a disgrace from Sergio Ramos. He's ended @MoSalah's night, and possibly his World Cup with a cynical, horrible foul. Believe me, Ramos knew what he was doing there, dragging the arm down like that and holding. Red card all day. #UCLfinal

Let’s hope Salah’s injury isn’t severe to the point that he has to miss the World Cup. With the year he’s had and career trajectory he’s on, it would be really devastating, not just for him but the millions of fans he has around the world.
Also, fuck Piers Morgan
Ramos was not to blame for Salah injury & Benzema was a predatory genius to score that goal.
Those who think otherwise are footballing halfwits. #UCL2018
