We have a lot to be grateful for in Pakistan. For instance, we’re grateful for the medical professionals who help save lives.
However, it can’t be denied that medical malpractice or medical negligence has always been a problem in our nation. It is something that has killed before and might continue killing in the future, if we do not raise our voices.

The recent death of Syed Anib Abbas, a 14-year-old boy from Karachi, is one such case of alleged medical negligence.
The indifference that the concerned doctors showed to the patient’s suffering left his family in tears on the day of Eid when everyone was joyous and enjoying the happy occasion.

In a post shared on Facebook, Khizra mentions the ordeal.
Anib fell on the 29th of Ramazan and hurt his chest and stomach while he was fasting. As he had his Iftaar, his pain aggravated and blood started dripping from his belly button.
His family took him to Ziauddin Hospital, where his ultrasound was done but none of the doctors tried to do anything to reduce his pain. Also, they were not just unable to diagnose his problem and gave him normal pain killers.

The family took Anib to Saifee hospital after seeing the disinterest of the doctors and faced the same peril.
Even then, when they saw no betterment in his condition, they decided to take him to the renowned Agha Khan Hospital. The doctors there were inattentive as well and, according to Khizra, considered it to be drama or a joke by the boy.
Prescribing Calpol, Isphagol, and Movicol to a patient without looking at the seriousness of his condition and the errors in the medical report clearly show the seriousness with which they dealt with Anib’s case.
Khizra also shared the reports:

The family shifted him to Imam Zainul Abidin Hospital in hopes of saving their child. However, the patient continued to suffer and remained in the same painful condition even after changing four different hospitals.
Anib was proclaimed dead when his family tried to shift him to another hospital, leaving his family devastated and in tears.

Here is the account that Khizra shared:
