Lahoris can’t have enough of milk
Lahore’s love for food is infamous despite many from outside of the city not exactly conceding that it really is the food capital of Pakistan. A perfect Lahori meal is incomplete without the ‘tarka’ of lassi or literally any dairy product containing milk BUT others just can’t seem to buy into this obsession.
Writer Musharraf Ali Farooqi expressed his loathsome views about Lahore’s milk obsession and triggered a bit of a city war
Basically, upon receiving his black coffee order, The writer was served with a pot of milk too. Upon his request of taking the milk back, the waiter was shocked and couldn’t really digest the fact that why the customer didn’t need the milk with black coffee(Poor guy). This little encounter with the waiter was shared by the writer in a simple tweet in which he plainly expressed that he cannot really understand the love/obsession Lahoris have with milk.
Can't get around Lahore's love for milk.
Ordered a black coffee at a restaurant yesterday. As usual, a large pot of milk accompanied the order.
Me: Please take the milk away.
Waiter: You won't have MILK!?
Me: No.
Waiter (incredulously): Not even with black coffee??

Lahoris refused to accept that this happened and were curious to know the name of the restaurant
I seriously wonder which restaurant that was? It's been 8 years I am living in Lahore, have had black coffee at a number of places, never did something like this ever happened!

This is common elsewhere too. Lots of Singapore cafes I've been asked " with milk?" when I order black coffee. Hullo! Which part of black & coffee means milk?!

Went to Gawalmandi in 1993 for lamb chops, I mean chaanp. There was a milk shop opposite to it. While we waited for our serving, just observed the owner pour all the leftover milk in one big ڈول. And started drinking it. Must be 5 liters if not more. All in 2 gulps. Quite a sight
