The transgender community, over the course of the years, has been subjected to poor treatment. Reduced to taking jobs no one else would – jobs they are then ostracized for – the transgender community has always struggled to find its place in Pakistan.

Which is why this new piece of news comes as a great sigh of relief. Allama Iqbal Open University is about to impart free education to members of the transgender community.

Not only does this instill hope within the community, it also paves way for a brighter future for its members.

This initiative is already being lauded by many.

And people are glad that this step has finally been taken.

There is already a ton of support.

And a conversation around education for the transgender community has also begun.

Moreover, possible outcomes for the future also started being discussed.

The fact that education is the right of the transgender community was also brought up.

And people hoped that the policy would eventually be adopted by all institutes.

Truly, the university deserves appreciation for the initiative. Moreover, it’ll be great to see what avenues open up for the trans community following this step. Let’s all hope for the best.
