Umar Akmal And Ahmed Shehzad Are Back In The Team And People Don't Understand Why

By Anoosha Rehan | 18 Sep, 2019

Umar Akmal and Ahmed Shehzad have had their share of trolling by people for their inconsistent performance, and just when people thought they were off the team for good, they are making an unexpected come back and people don’t really get why.

Umar Akmal and Ahmed Shehzad are officially back in the team after coach Misbah-Ul-Haq included them in his list

Pakistan’s chief selector and head coach, Misbah-Ul-Haq, announced Umar Akmal and the ‘Selfie King’ among the 20 probable players who will be playing for upcoming series with Sri Lanka. Here’s how people are taking it.

The first reactions about the inclusion of Umar Akmal and Ahmed Shehzad were essentially a variation of “are you kidding me?”

People are furious because they think these players are not talented and entitled

They referred to Umar Akmal and Ahmed Shehzad as “waste of talent”

Their past antics have scared people off of supporting them

Remember when Ahmed Shehzad pretended he was hurt really badly during a match? Or when Umar Akmal’s photo broke the internet?

People are just wondering if the inclusion of these players are due to some personal biases

But most of all SO MANY people were just really pissed

Everyone’s wondering how many more chances will they keep getting to improve even after they’ve shown a lack of growth during their prime years

Misbah’s approach towards selection was questioned

And jokes were made about coach Misbah-Ul-Haq being unhappy with chief selector Misbah-Ul-Haq

People are foreseeing losing another World Cup at the hands of  ‘senior players’

However, some fans were really excited to have both players back on team, hoping this opportunity would revive their careers

Umar Akmal was even referred to as AB de Villiers of Pakistan… sorry I spilled my tea

People are mostly furious at the new management for bringing back the old team and think PCB can never change. They think the selectors are putting energy in the wrong direction whilst ignoring a lot of other talented younger players who should be given a chance to shine and should be groomed to be disciplined and professional, at the same time. Bringing Umar Akmal and Ahmed Shehzad back on team also highlights the deficit of batsmen in Pakistan.

Do you think is it wise for coach Misbah to use the experience of senior players or is it another aimless shot?
