Modi just made it to the cover of Time Magazine and you’ll be glad it wasn’t Imran Khan.

India is currently going through their electoral process and Prime Minister Narendra Modi is trying to secure another 5 years in office

And to ensure his victory he did quite a few things to get the majority vote; one of his tactics was hate mongering. He used a divisive narrative which further increased the gap between the Hindu majority and other minorities in the country; mainly Muslim.

Week after week, images and videos of Muslims being physically assaulted went viral but the government always maintained silence on these issues. Soon it wasn’t just Muslims who were being attacked but lower-caste Hindus as well as Christian and other religious minorities who were getting the brunt of the situation in the country.

All of this is what landed Narendra Modi on the cover of Time magazine’s latest issue and Indians are naturally losing it

Of course, some Indians really appreciated that Time magazine was really honest in their depiction of a Prime Minister whose track record as a “progressive” leader of India is unraveling as the election season went into full swing in India.

Others pointed out that Indians were not the only ones who were hopeful from Modi since Time’s cover literally said the same thing only a few years ago.

A lot of people pointed out that the writer for the piece, Aatish Taseer was the son of late Salman Taseer, a Pakistani businessman and politician and thus his views would obviously be anti-Modi due to his half Pakistani parentage.

And yep, Aatish Taseer apparently Salman Taseer’s “illegitimate” child with an Indian journalist, Tavleen Singh. It’s okay, I found out right now as well.

The writer’s parentage made a lot of Indians dismiss Time magazine’s statement about Modi instantly

But all in all, Time magazine calling out Modi on their international cover is a bold move especially with the Indian elections happening right now.
