These Pakistani Universities Just Made It To The World’s Top 1,000 List And Damn, It Feels Good

Finally, 7 of Pakistan’s universities make it to the top 1000 list

All I have ever known is Pakistani university students arguing with one another on who’s university is better. People refer to HEC rankings and general public opinion to support their own institution but now if you go to one of these 7 universities, you can boast about them even more.

Seven of Pakistan’s premier institutions have made it to the 2020 list for the world’s top 1,000 universities which has been published by QS, a rating company based in the United Kingdom. The universities are ranked on a number of criteria including the student faculty ratio, the amount of research output among other things.

So now it’s time to see if your university made it to the top list in the world:

1. PIEAS

At the top in the list from Pakistan is the Pakistan Institute Of Engineering And Applied Sciences; or PIEAS for short. PIEAS earned a spot 375 out of the list of 1,000 universities! Pretty cool considering it’s a small campus located a little further away from Islamabad.

2. NUST

Of course, NUST wasn’t far behind as it claimed spot number 400 on the list and was the second ranking Pakistani university out of the total 7 that were on the list. And it’s not surprising considering how NUST students are always on the news for one project or the other.

3. Quaid-e-Azam University

The university took the spot of 511-520 on the list, and it’s not surprising since the Islamabad based university is revered as one of the best universities in the country. And as for the ranking number, there are a lot of universities globally which have the same ranking as one another which is why they are clumped together in one spot.

4. LUMS

Of course, the list could not have been complete without the Lahore University of Management Sciences making the list by taking a spot between 701-750 out of the top 1,000 universities. LUMS is largely considered one of the best universities in Pakistan and now it can argue as being one of the best in the world.

5. COMSATS

COMSATS has various campuses across Pakistan and is arguably one of the biggest universities in the country according to size. It ranked between 801-1000 on the list of top 1,000 universities and I am pretty sure all COMSATS students all over the country must be celebrating this achievement.

6. UET

The University of Engineering Technology in Lahore made it to the list as well! It also ranked between 801-1000 like COMSATS which is a pretty big achievement in itself.

7. University Of The Punjab

While it may be one of the oldest universities in the country, it also happens to be one of the best! The university also ranked in the same bracket as COMSATS and UET; between 801 and 1000. And considering the sheer amount of departments and degrees PU has to offer, I am not even surprised!

So did you university make it to the list? Let us know in the comments below.
