Earlier today, the city of light turned into the city of darkness.
You may have seen it on the news, but Karachi’s skies were aflame today.

An oil tanker overturned and exploded in Sher Shah’s Gulbai flyover in Karachi earlier this morning.
The fire spread and hit nearby cars, trucks and other vehicles that have were extinguished thanks to the local fire brigade. No casualties have been reported. The actual explosion occurred when the oil spilt onto the streets and then caught fire as the tanker had broken into two pieces.
After reportedly hours of combating the fire, the local fire brigade was able to put out and control the situation. According to reports, it took at least seven to eight engines to put out the fire. Again, no casualties have been reported but a number of vehicles were destroyed in the incident.
Though the situation was handled rather effectively, images of the footage of the fire and its smoke have been circulating on social media.
Like, wildfire.

Just two years ago, over one hundred people were killed in an oil tanker capsize on the National Highway near Bahawalpur. All we can be thankful for is that no people were hurt in the process and as the day goes on, let’s hope that the handling of the accident went as well as it possibly could.
