The Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy issue has been blown out of proportions since the Oscar-winning documentary director posted her hospital ordeal a few days ago. Everyone on social media has either supported her or criticized her.

This cafe in Karachi just tried to peddle their products on the back of Sharmeen Obaid’s recent controversy with a rather tasteless ad

A popular dessert joint in Karachi, Cafe Liquiteria, took advantage of the hype and posted a very cheeky advertisement on its Facebook page.

The advertisement is a obvious stab at Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy’s tweets regarding the friend request her sister received on Facebook from the doctor who attended to her.

People on social media are divided about this advertisement

This has been shared hundreds of times. Like the issue itself, the post has its supporters and critics. Some were on Sharmeen’s side and then there were those who supported the doctor who has been allegedly let go of his position at the Agha Khan University Hospital.

And many others were just more interested in trolling than addressing the elephant in the room

Whether you agree or disagree with Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy’s stance, the campaign took advantage of an unfortunate situation which hurts sentiments of all the people involved.
