When Saba Qamar came to visit us for an interview, she mentioned how she was utterly obsessed with a Turkish show on Netflix called ‘The Protector.’ She also mentioned how she’s in love with the male protagonist, Çagatay Ulusoy, so I had a quick google sweep and my oh my, is he HOTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT. I started watching the Turkish drama immediately and became addicted instantly.
*don’t worry, no spoilers – just a gist*
I loved it not just because the main actor is so delicious to my eyes, but also because the plot is INSANELY good – there’s a superhero twist that I was NOT expecting!
It felt like I was watching a Marvel series, and I was astounded by how brilliantly it’s done. Hakan, played by Çagatay realizes he has supernatural powers and realizes he has to protect his city, Istanbul.

It’s your typical trope of ‘rags-to-riches’ but it doesn’t feel too recycled.
Hakan aspires to do more than just work at his father’s antique shop in Istanbul’s Grand Bazaar. He’s determined to go further with his father’s business, and his overt confidence is slightly blurred by his unrealistic expectation about how hard it is to make it to the top. Hakan comes from a low middle-class family, and this delightful Turkish drama is all about this boy determined to protect the city from villains that plan to destroy it.

His aspiration to become a rich businessman, Hakan gets rich in powers – not money; but it comes with a toll.
Hakan discovers his bloodline goes all the way back to an archaic line of superheroes who have saved Istanbul from the darkness that threatens to destroy it.

The actor who plays Hakan, if I haven’t mentioned already is HOT. HOT. HOT. I mean that’s why Saba watches it LOL (I mean, it helps)!
Çagatay Ulusoy is a Turkish model and an actor who is best known for being a part of the remake of ‘The O.C.’ and now has become an international star after ‘The Protector.’ He was born on 23rd September 1990 and hello mama…
Here’s the trailer. You’ll be hooked. Saba is. And so am I.
Also, watch the full interview where Saba reveals more about herself!
Have you seen ‘The Protector’ yet? What do you think about it?
