From Ranveer Singh's Ramp Walk To Hot Summer Trends, Here's Everything That Happened At Lakme Fashion Week

By Arslan Athar | 4 Feb, 2019

Ranveer Singh stole the show!

India’s premier fashion week, Lakme Fashion Week concluded last night among multiple celebrity appearances and some clear new trends for the upcoming Spring Summer 2019 season. Lighter clothes, softer colors and free-flowing clothes were a massive trend at this fashion week. This Lakme Fashion Week proved yet again that India is trying to align itself with international fashion trends, and also bring in a new wave of sustainable fashion.

Manikarnika’ actress, Kangana took the ramp wearing powder pink lehnga choli.

This outfit is definitely very Bollywood and very traditional as well.

Chacha bhateeji, Anil and Jhanvi Kapoor shared the ramp walk in all black ensemble.

While Anil’s look was simple and traditional, Jhanvi’s ruffled skirt and embellished top really was an eye-catcher.

Ranveer Singh was in the audience at this walk and couldn’t help dance with his favorite man.

He even posed for the official last photo with the showstoppers and the designer.

Let’s hope he was at least wearing the collection being showcased

Speaking of Ranveer Singh….

The actor set the ramp on F I R E with his ‘Gully Boy’ persona while sporting an athleisure look.

You do you, Ranveer- ALWAYS.

Aside from the ramp, Ranveer made an impromptu performance at the middle of the venue.

How can any mention of Lakme Fashion Week be complete without talking about the queen of the ramp walk- Kareena Kapoor.

Kareena was wearing a floor-length black dress that perfectly complemented her and her body. The top is a criss-cross leather pattern that really sinched down on her waist.

Aside from the glitz and the glam of Bollywood, the fashion exhibited at Lakme was quite extraordinary.

There was a lot of mixing desi fashion sensibilites with influences from the West.

The designs were bold, vivacious and loud (in the best way)

There were definite nods to the traditional Indian aesthetics.

At the same time, androgynous fashion got the spotlight it needed.

And hunni, it was glorious!

There were five days of fashion at Lakme, so it is hard to pinpoint certain major trends since all types of fashion got equal and fair coverage. That being said, it can be said that androgynous fashion, solid colors and simpler aesthetics are definitely going to have their moment in the spotlight this spring and summer in India. Globally there has been a move to ‘going simple’ and using color and color blocking to create complex and intricate designs- this trend seems to have reached India, and it is definitely going to prosper there too.
