Amna Ilyas. Naam tho sunna ho ga. She’s been a salient part of the Pakistani fashion industry, slowly weaving herself a basket full delectable modelling that has transformed her into one of the most sought after models of this decade. She swiftly stamped her mark on Lollywood after her debut in the 2013 film Zinda Bhaag alongside Naseerudin Shah, which earned her the ARY Jury Award for Best Actress among other nominations. She later speckled the film Dhek Magar Pyaar Se with an appearance in the mellowed down shaadi song Kaala Doriya, where she dazzled with her striking bhangra. Now she’s emerged as the prominent pillar in the film Mehrunisa V Lub U’s song Mahraba where her prowess as a dancer is patent.
Amna Ilyas masters the song into her own hands and sets ablaze all screen presence with a very mellowed down number that attempts to reminisce an older Bollywood.

While her song does resemble most contemporary Bollywood-esque songs, it does try to uphold the more nostalgic take.

Laudably the song boasts a Danish Taimoor who dances wonderfully with an impassioned vigor.

It’s a far cry from the terribly skewed item songs we’re so accustomed to seeing these days where it’s the woman in prime focus frolicking around.

Instead we see a Ram Leela-esque set with backup dancers and crisp, synchronized choreography.

In a shaadi set with a familiar palette of colors, flashy lights, song and dance.

Although there is a recycled undertone throughout

The song does justice to Amna, who’s fervent dance and facial expressions are praiseworthy.

It’s a deserving attempt and like all feature songs that are judged in their own entirety…

This one is solid.
