Once Again, Aima Baig Miserably Failed At Copying Nazia Hassan And Everyone's Sick And Tired

By Arslan Athar | 18 Mar, 2019

Aima Baig has garnered quite the following after her performances on Coke Studio. The singer got quite the spot last year at the PSL closing ceremony and made a return this year.

At the opening ceremony of PSL, in Dubai, she sang a cover of Nazia Hassan’s iconic song, ‘Disco Deewane’.

This cover became controversial when Nazia’s brother, Zoheb Hassan, claimed that no one from PSL or PCB got in touch with this regarding the rights to this song.

A few days back, Zoheb announced that with his permission, the PSL closing ceremony would include a tribute to his late sister, Nazia Hassan.

The singer of choice was Aima Baig. The singer sang ‘Teri Meri Dosti’ on her own, while Shuja Haider joined her on stage for ‘Disco Deewane’.

There was a lot of upset over Aima ruining their favorite song.

People also had an issue with the fact Aima sang the same song twice- at the opening and closing ceremonies. Clearly the organizers at PSL really wanted to make it up to Zoheb Hassan when he initially spoke out against them, but it might have resulted in an overkill. That was then topped off with an apparently not-so-great performance by Aima Baig.

What did you think of her performance?
