Hasan Minhaj has been a household name in America for a while now, but he became super relevant to the desi world when he roasted American President, Donald Trump IN the White House. Since then, the comedian has signed on a show with Netflix called ‘The Patriot Act’, which is basically Hasan talking about global, and American issues in his signature infotainment style.
The comedian took on Saudia Arabia in his first episode, which was a bold move, but his latest episode is even bolder.
This week, Hasan tackled the Indian election, especially Narendra Modi. He posted a montage of Indian aunties and uncles telling him not to do the episode, but did he listen?
I didn’t listen. #NowStreaming pic.twitter.com/7fnuDuaImW

Hasan talks extensively about Modi and the recent escalation of tensions between Pakistan and India.
In fact, he couldn’t show the map of Kashmir since, apparently, the Indian Government could sue the show if they didn’t show the Indian approved borders, so we just showed a blurred version.
He talked about how violence against minorities increased during Modi’s time. He would interject this information by addressing his own biases, the fact that he is Muslim, but would be quick to back this information with actual stats.
Possibly the most scandalous part of this show was when he compared Modi’s ‘India First’ rhetoric with Trump’s ‘America First’ slogan.
Minhaj does address the comparison between Modi and Trump, however, does dispell it by mentioning how Modi is a pretty intelligent politician, who knows how to control information and his image.
There is an abundance of hilarious moments in this show.
My personal favorite was when he sang ‘Tum Paas Aaye’ over an interaction between Trump and Modi, where the Indian PM made his signature ‘hug’ move. Also that fact that Hasan Minha kept addressing how he could be a spy, first for Pakistan, then Qatar and finally, Iran.
Of course, there was hate, but in the midst of it all, there were loads of laughs too.
Oh my god the @patriotact episode on Indian elections is soo good! I love you Hasan Minhaj❤ #PatriotAct

Desis LOVED it!
The @patriotact episode on Indian elections is a great unbiased appetiser for someone wanting to understand the politics. Well summed up @hasanminhaj.
Kudos for focussing on Yogi Adityanath and his thuggery.

People were already questioning the future of this episode.
Netflix had been forced to take down the Saudi episode for its audiences in the country, on insistence from the Government.
I've to watch 'Indian Elections' episode by Hasan Minhaj before it gets pulled out by #India #PatriotAct

Hasan, I hope you’re reading all this advice.
The @patriotact on indian elections 👏👏👏🤣🤣 PS @hasanminhaj you would need to keep your Twitter on silent for sometime, also drop any plans of visiting India for the next few years & oh yes be prepared for a trending hashtag to call you anti national & to boycott you.

While most Modi supporters were pretty riled up, this one had a different outlook (and a reality check too)
Biased for sure but pretty hilarious. I'm huge Modi supporter but I don't see any reason to be outraged.
Also Modi haters looking to settle scores using this episode please note Hasan will not be voting in Indian elections & he has zero influence on Indian voters.

Revealing your spy status wasn’t the wisest move, Hasan Minhaj!
Hindu nationalism is transcending its own worst excesses! I hope India will vote wisely but in the meantime YOU CAN’T DISCLOSE THAT YOU ARE A SPY! #ABCDForLife @hasanminhaj @patriotact
