This Twitter war should be leading to some hard-hitting self examination
The whole controversy surrounding Mahira Khan and her smoking has collectively triggered just about everyone on the social spectrum. People have come out strongly against her while many in the showbiz fraternity has stepped out in her support.
Among those to call out the double standards of this society vis-a-vis Mahira, was Momina Mustehsan
Im assuming those bashing @TheMahiraKhan are saints & would happily put every moment of their lives up for scrutiny. To each their own guys!

Momina Mustehsan may have supported Mahira Khan today, but Pakistani Twitter wasn’t having it one bit
And so began the ‘Momina Twitter War’
But shouldn't you have said the same about Qandeel, @MominaMustehsan you slut shamed her and said she was "just using her body". https://t.co/cDwfql5ViB

People were exposing Momina and her double standards in this situation because her past statements had been different

It was relentless
@MominaMustehsan so clarify this too
You are the one now talking about double standards pic.twitter.com/Br9X2cPVK8— Hannan Arshed (@HannanArshed2) September 22, 2017

Momina responded, basically saying that her tweets and views need to stop being taken out of context
But of course, no one saw this or the other tweets in the series. https://t.co/081am0yD6x

She affirmed that everyone has the agency to do as they please but also reiterated that, according to her, objectification is not empowerment
I never judged. Wrote everyone should be respected for personal choices. However, objectification is not empowerment, in my opinion #Context pic.twitter.com/GWnETTsTd4

However it seems as though nothing was going Momina’s way and she came under further scrutiny online
The thing you are calling an objectification is called reclaiming her sexual agency and an online space. The way you perform and sing on TV.
— Nighat Dad (@nighatdad) September 23, 2017
Her arguments were taken apart piece by piece, and the type of feminism she practiced was a hot topic
In an patriarchal setting with a misogynistic mindset, your singing is also considered immoral, for me it's an empowerment for some not.
— Nighat Dad (@nighatdad) September 23, 2017
Some people just found the ‘irony’ a little disturbing
I never judged and then AGAIN judges her in the same tweet. Gold stuff!
— Jason Blood (@Etrigan__) September 23, 2017
Others were left a little disappointed with how Momina dealt with the situation
Disappointing sentiment coming from you. Expected better. You've just played into the patriarchal society you condemned in previous RT
— Humna S. (@bumnashaikh) September 23, 2017
While some just called her out on her own double standards
You actually did.
— OUR (@Ourf_) September 23, 2017
In the midst there were a few people who came out in support of the singer and that one can have evolving views, over time
Agree. You don't have to take sides & say things they want u to say.

Respect your opinion
