Mahira Khan recently took part in her first ever humanitarian mission as part of UNHCR (United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees) Pakistan. The actress visited Afghan refugees in Karachi as part of the international UN Refugee Agency’s programme to protect refugees and displaced people. During her humanitarian trip, the actress spent time with Afghan refugees and documented the visit on her Instagram.
Mahira commended Pakistan for being “one of the most generous countries in the world” for “hosting Afghan refugees for nearly forty years”
“Since 2002, around 4.3 million Afghan refugees have returned back to Afghanistan under the largest voluntary programme in the world,” she wrote on Instagram. She uploaded a series of photos from her trip and continued her pledge for us to care for refugees. “We must care because more than half of the refugees are kids. A lot of them came unaccompanied, without their mothers or fathers.” She ended her note with a powerful statement – “they are our future…no one chooses to be a refugee. No one chooses to leave their home.”

They were big fans of Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan, and even sung a song from his film ‘Main Tera Hero.’ Indian actor Varun Dhawan replied to the Mahira’s post and was touched by the love of the two boys.
