By Alveena Jadoon | 27 Dec, 2017

We all hear different stories about what life for women in Pakistan is like. Mostly the narrative which comes forward is that a woman in Pakistani society is greatly respected. We tend to ignore the negative aspects and push them under the rug.

There is no such thing as discrimination, lack of opportunities, and the fettering by tradition of a woman in the Pakistani society… or so we like to believe

Sidra Amin, a Twitter user, used the platform to throw some light on the life of a woman in Pakistan

The points she raises are precise and accurate, and difficult to shy away from. We might deny their existence but that does not mean that they are not there.

1. The awkward tandoor encounter

2. Driving a car; the biggest challenge of the 21st century

3. Acting like a robot at the workplace because “acha nahi lagta”.

4. Talking about intellectual incapability

5. Let us all stare at women because we can

6. Sorry, a woman can hold no opinions

Women from the twittersphere started pouring in support for Sidra and her apt tweets

Even the men couldn’t help but admit whatever she said was on point

We also feel that Sidra was a 1000 percent right!
