Kangana Called Alia Bhatt And Asked Her To Grow Some Balls And That’s The Fearlessness I Need

Kangana Ranaut released her first film as a director a few weeks back. ‘Manikarnika: Queen of Jhansi’ is a film that has received lots of praise, not only for the way it has been made but also for Kangana’s exceptional performance in it.

These past few days, Kangana has become vocal about Bollywood’s reception to the movie.

According to the actress, top actors and directors in Bollywood have not come out in support for her film or even seen it, even though she herself goes out of her way to support others and their projects. In an exclusive interview with Indian publication, Pinkvilla, Kangana talks openly about how actors like Aamir Khan and Alia Bhatt have not come out in support for her film.

She recounts how she called and supported Alia after only seeing the trailer for  ‘Raazi’, and how Aamir called on her for support after his hit film ‘Dangal’ was released. In her interview, she openly asks them why they are silent about ‘Manikarnika’. She accuses them of being threatened by her film and therefore not supporting it. Kangana, very openly, is connecting this ‘Bollywood boycott’ to her being vocal about the rampant nepotism and sexism in the industry and sees this as the industry taking its revenge.

Kangana also revealed what she said to Alia Bhatt during a phone call between the actresses.

“It’s a film that the whole nation is talking about and wondering why Bollywood is keeping quiet on such a relevant work…I asked her if I can be courteous and gracious to acknowledge her requests for encouraging relevant work that she does, why is she so scared to see my film. I suggested that she grows some spine and supports an important film about woman empowerment and nationalism. If she doesn’t have a voice of her own and her existence is all about being KJo’s puppet then I don’t consider her successful”

She doesn’t just stop there. She goes on to say “I told her if she is only focusing on earning bucks and not raise a voice, then her success has no value. I hope she understands the true meaning of success and her responsibilities, Nepo gang life is simply restricted to give and take favors. I hope she rises above that.”

This controversy has gone further than the Pinkvilla story as Kangana openly threatened Bollywood yesterday, during a press conference.

She compared how she’s being treated to school bullying. She feels cornered and attacked, all because she had the guts to speak up about the discrimination in the industry. Kangana then went on to threaten Bollywood by saying ‘Ab tou mein inn ke peechay parh jao gi, inn ki vaat lagao ki.’

According to Kangana, ‘Manikarnika: Queen of Jhansi’ is not a movie about Kangana, it is about the nation, and nationalism. She says that this movie is bigger than egos and pride and therefore the people of Bollywood need to grow up and move past their petty differences.

Kangana has been fighting the status quo in Bollywood for a while now, and she is known for not caring who is sitting in front of her. Some might call it extreme and ill-mannered but to be fair, it is what Bollywood needs at this moment. It needs a munh phatt woman to whip them all into shape. It’s clear that she’s had enough of Bollywood and their petty behavior, especially now that they are sidelining her and her passion project.
