Youtuber Shahveer Jafry sparked controversy and uproar after passing questionable remarks about the Pakistani drama industry.
Pakistani-Canadian Youtuber Shahveer Jafry stirred controversy after claiming all Pakistani dramas are recycled and revolve around “saas-bahu”Ā narratives.
Pakistaniās dramas are good but they all revolve around SAAS BAHU. I think Iām going to have to think of a creative a new unconventional web-series in Pakistan and change the entire TV DRAMA industry.

His tweet was struck with backlash by Pakistani drama viewers who said this was false.

Not at all Shahveer. Very few serials are related to saas bahu……
At least among all the dramas i am watching rn none of them belongs to this category!— Insha Its Aadeezholic (@InshaBabar) June 25, 2019
The YouTuber followed with a tirade about how he vows to change the entertainment industry with not just his own web series, but a ‘Fast & Furious’ inspired venture:
Pakistan needs to have a āFast and Furiousā type action based movie series. Something that the younger audience would love to watch!

Shahveer’s drama-related tweet reached all social platforms, with online publications sharing it to beg a debate with their followers:
Veteran Imran Ashraf commented underneath ‘Diva Magazine Pakistan’s’ Instagram post, tagging Shahveer’s Instagram account and honestly giving him the best shut up call ever.
Just when you think you couldn’t admire, love and respect Imran anymore, well…the actor began with a beautifully savage “mein sadqay jaoon”Ā before diving in D. E. E. P. He said Shahveer was mistaken, and that our drama industry was one of the finest in the world, before ending his statement with “baishak aap aikĀ talentedĀ insaan hain, par nahi…inti bari baat ziadi hai.”
YOU KING!
Shahveer’s response was mediocre at best because well, let’s be honest he did receive quite the shut-up call:
