Meera’s latest film ‘Baaji’ is coming out on the 28th of June. Today, the teaser for the film dropped and OMG it is genuinely the most intense thing I have seen in a while. Let me dive into it:

The teaser really loops you in right at the start. 

It’s raining, Osman Khalid Butt is fighting Ali Kazmi, glass is breaking and there is screaming.

Meera plays an actress whose career is declining. 

Amna Ilyas plays a woman with big dreams of making it big in the entertainment industry. 

Osman Khalid Butt plays a director whose searching for the ‘perfect face’ for his next film. 

The teaser featured a lot of absolutely WOW shots of Meera, like this gem. 

We truly have not seen Meera like this EVER before. 

Somewhere along the line, Osman Khalid Butt falls for Amna Ilyas, positively ending Meera’s career. 

This leads to the last scene where Meera attacks Amna. 

The teaser ends with this close up shot of a distraught Meera, saying ‘Love Me, Hate Me, but you can never replace me’. 

The story seems to be a classic war between the old and the new, with the focus being the entertainment world. Meera truly rules the screen in this teaser, with her antics and relationship with Amna Ilyas. I really mean it when I say that I am looking forward to seeing this film. The storyline might be old, and the trajectory might be predictable but this does seem like Meera put her heart and soul into this, and has unleashed a part of her acting we haven’t seen yet.

This film’s uniqueness comes from Meera, and the fact that she’s sharing the screen with ‘the newer lot’ in Pakistani entertainment. This on-screen dynamic will be exciting, despite the fact that the story is something we have seen before.
