People Are Calling Out Social Media' Silence About This Girl Who Was Stripped Naked And Paraded In DI Khan

By Alveena Jadoon | 8 Nov, 2017

A teenage girl was stripped naked and paraded throughout a village in Dera Ismael Khan on Sunday. The decision to walk this girl throughout the village was taken by a group of bandits, as a punishment for her brother’s conduct.

She was paraded naked for an hour, and even though she knocked on many doors to ask for clothes and shelter but out of fear of the bandits, no one offered any help

Even though the incident took place in the vicinity of the Chodwan Police Station, the police refused to take any action after the family lodged a complain. It was only after the mainstream media had picked up the story, that the first report was filed against 5 of the culprits.

There was an outrage all over the country on the incident

Since it happened in KP, people called out Imran Khan and the effective justice system in KP that he talks about

Many noticed how the majority was silent about this horrible incident

Some took this opportunity to point fingers against Sharmeen Obaid’s critics who were silent in this case

However, this lady asked the most pertinent question out of all

All this attention pushed the justice process. Imran Khan took notice of the incident and till now 8 out of 9 culprits are under arrest

Four out of eight suspects have confessed to their crime before a local court two days ago. The rest of the four suspects have denied the charges, claiming that the others have confessed due to constant pressure of the police.

The speedy justice in this case must commended. A lot of incidents like this go unreported and unaccounted for. Precedents need to be set for people taking justice into their own hands because the law does not allow it. And the alternate justice systems end up taking decisions which do not benefit women at all.
