Women Across Pakistan Are Obsessed With This Latest Shalwar Trend

By Kashaf | 8 Oct, 2017

Let’s talk about ghararas, the trend that took Pakistani fashion by storm this year

The gharara is a traditional Lakhnowi attire worn by Muslim women. It’s different than a sharara and a lehngha as it has two legs with a chunat somewhere between the thigh and mid calf – typically with dramatic flare at the bottom.

From pastels to traditional red to colorful mehndi patterns to modern “pant” styles, ghararas have proven their versatility

You don’t even have to be a bride to rock this look

We spotted many women pulling off gorgeous colorful ghararas at all kinds of formal and informal events.

Pair them with long, short, or medium length shirts – everything looks amazing

Another thing observed this year was the ghararas and the shirts didn’t have to be super heavy – the simple outfits looked just as good the heavily embellished ones. They soon transitioned from formal to semi-formal to casual wear and were pulled off by all ages.

Heck, it can even be worn on casual days out

Eid, this year, was particularly ALL ABOUT the gharara

Everyone who’s even remotely up-to-date with their fashions and trends was seen sporting a gharara. The look was EVERYWHERE.

And thus was born a “twist” on the traditional gharara – the gharara pants

These pants looked very chic with lawn, net, silk, or basically any kind of shirt you had in your closet. The pleats on these ghararas were fitted at the knees and looked ravishing with vintage lace and in pure silk. They looked sleek, elegant, and accentuated long legs.

These gharara pants look amazing with silk tunics and jackets of all lengths

You may have to harass your tailor if you want them stitched perfectly but they’re totally worth it and add pizzazz to any simple outfit

Going ethnic this Eid ❣️ #shehrnaz #eidoutfit #eidmubarak
