Here Are Sweets For Eid ul Fitr Besides Mithai That'll Make You Everyone's Favorite Mehmaan

By Sinwan Zahid | 17 Jun, 2018

Are you always thinking of how to change the sweets for Eid ul Fitr up a bit by dropping the mithai? Mithai‘s great, but not everyone likes the mithai you get them. On top of that, not everyone likes mithai. Some people, in fact, are very vocal about how they didn’t need yet another box of mithai… well, after the guests have left.

So, we decided to help you undeniably elevate your eid visitor game this year by changing up your sweets for Eid ul Fitr. You’re welcome:

Popsicles

The past few years it is unbelievably hot around eid and what could me more better than an assortment of popsicles for your hosts? There is, however, one limitation and that is the melting part. So, be sure to blast your car air conditioning and get to your hosts fast!

Dessert Cups

Cups like these are truly a delight. You can have a tray prepared or buy an assortment of cups like these from Dessert Directory or even Kitchen Cuisine.

Cakes and Pastries

While cakes are more common, you can make it different it up by getting pastries. Mix up a few pastries in lemon, vanilla and chocolate and have them packed in a nice box. Even brownies and banana bread would do!

It depends on which kind of bakery you have the budget from but our suggestions are Shezan, Bread and Beyond, Kitchen Cuisine, Gourmet Bon Vivant, Dessert Directory, and Coffee, Tea & Company.

Doughnuts

Doughnuts are the perfect sweets for Eid ul Fitr! They’re delicious, sugary goodness and come in so much fillings, colors and toppings. One obvious recommendation is Dunkin Donuts – get a dozen and you’re good to go!

Cookie Cakes

Why not go all in and get the perfect cross between a cake and a cookie? This ooey gooey chocolaty goodness will make your hosts jump out of excitement and give you the most thoughtful guest of the year award! You can get this from Karamel in Karachi and Islamabad, and we hear Pizza Hut does one too – try it out.

Jalebi

Wanna go for a desi alternative? Try jaleblis. This deep fried batter soaked in sugary syrup is heaven in your mouth. It’s also pretty economical. We would recommend the best of the best, Grato Jalebi to you. But other jalebis are equally nice so you can get those, too.

Ras Malai

These round balls of curd, dipped in sweet, thickened milk, topped off with nuts and then chilled are food porn material. The West calls these a cheesecake without a crust, but it isn’t really like that. In fact it’s much better, more delightful and so, so creamy.

You can get ras malai from any bakery but the ones at Shezan are the bomb.

Andrassay

Andrassay, simply put, are flour, semolina (sooji), sugar, salt, sesame seeds deep-fried in ghee until crispy and golden brown. It is the crisp outer layer and the soft, doughy texture you bite into, that even in today’s world of icecreams and pastries and biscuits, has its place secured in the streets of Pakistan. Get your guests a big box of these!

Caramelized Popcorn

Get your hosts sweet popcorn this eid! While not many do caramelized popcorn, Popnosh does them in Lahore. They’re doing special tins and are offering several flavors like caramel almond, caramel peanut, plain caramel, and so many more.

Be sure to check out their kiosks in Packages, Emporium and even Jalal Sons Main Market now.

Sweet Samosas

Meethay samosay exist and they are absolutely, unquestionably some of the best things man has ever thought of. With filling like apple pie, peanut butter and nutella, plain nutella and even gulab jamuns, we’re sold. Take a litre of ice cream along to enjoy your samosa a la mode with your hosts.

Our recommendations in Lahore would be Awesamosas and Samosa Kitchen!

And lastly, Nan Khatai

Pakistan’s desi biscuit, nan khatai is a flaky, sugary biscuit filled with nuts and roasted to perfection. While it’s available at many local bakeries, no one does nan khatai better than Khalifa in Lahore.

Khalifa’s nan khatai is the undisputed champion of khatai, people all over Pakistan try it out and fall in love with it.

And here you go, some amazing sweets for Eid ul Fitr that ought to make your hosts sing praises of you in front of others! Eid Mubarak, doston!
