Remember a few months back, Indian Prime Minister Modi, released a “Main Bhi Chowkidar” Campaign to counter Rahul Gandhi’s slogan during elections that went as follows: “Chowkidar Chor Hai?” Modi got the opportunity to go just a mile further by encouraging people from his party to add the prefix “Chowkidar” in front of their names on Twitter.
Just look at his most recent tweet if you want evidence
Thank you Rajasthan!
This land is strongly backing BJP. Happy to see several youngsters, farmers and women join our public meetings.

This “Main Bhi Chowkidar” may have been introduced to support the party and its endeavors, but things don’t always work out like they are supposed to…
Recently, India’s Minister of External Affairs was referred to as “Chowkidar Sushma Swaraj” by one of the biggest American news publications.
In the article, CNN US mentions her by her Twitter handle. This article has caused some uproar, mainly in a mazakiya way.
ROFL! @cnn thinks @SushmaSwaraj 's actual name is "Chowkidar Sushma Swaraj" 😂🤣😆 pic.twitter.com/Fx1m2JdlV5

Unki campaign ki mehnaat sab pani mai gayi
CNN mistakes India's MEA's name as Chowkidar Sushma Swaraj in an article yesterday https://t.co/Ovd1V3eGRX
Ministers prefixing 'Chowkidar' to their names really served no purpose besides ending up in embarrassing international gaffes. pic.twitter.com/Bx7VExXO3k— Zainab Sikander (@zainabsikander) May 2, 2019
People want to point out ke yeh kaafi useless step tha
@SushmaSwaraj
This is what the world sees when you think you are doing something intelligent but ultimately end up foolish. If you still did not get it, CNN thinks your name is Chowkidar Sushma Swaraj.#chowkidar pic.twitter.com/DT3rmZ5h3i— J (@fnkey) May 2, 2019
Confusion, confusion
If they think it’s a name, they may be wondering that after Gandhi family, Chowkidar family has taken control of government in India.

Good question, very good question
Imagine if they write any thing about Indian Ministry they might think that every ministers in #India belongs to #Chowkidar Family

I guess the campaign backfired
No chill or no research? Probably the former
Theory toh kaafi achi hai
Well…are they really opposing it, though?
Regardless, people are NOT holding back
