I Attended THAT Controversial Atif Aslam Independence Day Parade & Here's What REALLY Happened

By Lyba Ali | 14 Aug, 2018

New York City and its Pakistani organizers hosted the Independence Day Parade featuring Atif Aslam on Sunday, August 5th, 2018. And your girl had the best seats to the show.

The fact that the event started and ended on time should have made headlines. The parade started on E 38 Street and ended on E 26th Street Madison Ave, NY. The actual show started with local Pakistani school children singing Ae Watan Pyaare Watan.

Then we were joined by Atif Aslam for 3 hours of utter euphoria. NYC Mayor, Bill de Blasio, joined as well.

He congratulated Pakistan and Pakistanis on its Independence Day and its Naya Pakistan. His message to the Pakistani immigrant community was truly genuine and heartfelt. In his own words, he said the Pakistani community plays a major role in making NYC what it is today. He said to not let the racist and xenophobic people bring down the strong community like ours.

The hype and excitement were REAL.

Atif truly seemed impressed with the passion and talent of his audience. We did not let the heat and dehydration get to us. None of us walked out or were disappointed. The only misfortune was having to see Atif leave due to the call of nature.

Also, the audience and I pretty much lost our voices begging him to sing his popular songs.

Ab to aadat si ban gi hai ladko meri baat na sun na, smh. Just kidding, he sang everyone’s favorites. He added new renditions and beats to his popular songs such as Jeenay Laga Hoon, Tere Bin, and Tere Hone Laga Hoon. I was here for all the dil diyan gallan he had to say.

Peep this epic selfie.

This picture circulated to the moon and back. I am basically famous. Thank you to all my fans who have been with me through thick and thin #blessed #humbled. I will be holding a meet and greet very soon. Watch this space. xoxo

Lastly, we high-fived!

I am sorry to disappoint but yes I did wash my hands after. I was not trying to be the cause of a new plague after traveling on the New York City transportation services. If you know, you know.

Shoutout to Atif Aslam – a true rockstar!

No, thank YOU for performing like a true star. I do not care what others have to say but watan ki yaad dila di. So you do you, Atif. Thank you for an incredible day.
