Army Chief making Pakistan’s match a victory? Sounds legit
Last night’s match made a lot of Pakistani cricket fans very happy when Pakistan unexpectedly won the match against South Africa
Some people thought it was because the Chief of Army Staff, General Qamar Bajwa was in the audience and proved to be quite the good luck charm.
I just came to know that Pak Army Chief General Qamar Javed bajwa is present too in the ground along with @OfficialDGISPR.

People were hella confident about the win even before the match started when they knew that Pakistan’s COAS would be at the World Cup match
But of course, there were also people who thought it was unprofessional of him to have attended the match since they had theories about how he got his tickets…
Dear @peaceforchange from this video it is quite clear that stadium entrance ticket to you and #COAS was gifted by #AnilMussart who is a political party worker.
Isn't it the violation of #Pak_Army code of ethics to accept gifts from political workers! @OfficialDGISPR https://t.co/1PXE6WQ9nn

I think people fail to understand the line between a joke and an insult. Unless people have proof, doubting the COAS visit to watch the cricket match paid with ill-gotten money is not a joke but an abuse. He still gets security protocol for the job, even on his personal trips.

Of course, there were those who defended the Army Chief’s right to attend a World Cup match.
A nation that kept quiet for last thirty years and bore the brunt of money launderers is now asking COAS if the ticket he bought for Pakistan cricket match is paid by govt? If you don't see traction of "tabdeeli" in this swift behavior change, you are living in complete denial.

But the general sentiment was positive towards the COAS’ presence at the World Cup. And people even asked him to stay for the rest of the matches so Pakistan’s good performance could be guaranteed.
@peaceforchange can you and Army chief please stay in England untill our remaining matches. Team perform really well under Army leadership.#PAKvSA #CWC19 #WeHaveWeWill

Yes, Army Chief and DG ISPR's presence surely boosted team's morale. Just what was required today. https://t.co/OVs3ZyikOK

The jokes also resonate because of the perception, thanks to severe lack of confidence in democratic parties, that only the Army is an institution in Pakistan that is capable of making things happen
Mission accomplished 😍😍@peaceforchange

Honestly, if the Chief of Army Staff decides to take one day off to attend a cricket match, how is that such a big issue? He does enough for the country on regular days to deserve one day off. Not to mention that so many Pakistanis traveled to the UK to attend the World Cup so it shouldn’t seem out of the ordinary for the country’s COAS to have gone and attended one match as well.
