12 year old me jamming to Smack That by Akon is shook.
Over a decade ago, when I was jamming to ‘Smack That’, oblivious to what the song actually meant, I could have never even imagined that Akon would even be able to pinpoint Pakistan on the world map let alone make an appeal on behalf of the country.
After Akon recently announced that he’s coming to Pakistan, the awaam has gone back to 2009
He’s coming through the same company that brought legendary footballers, Kaka, and Luis Figo on a trip to Pakistan where they mingled with fans and the media. Akon is scheduled to perform in Pakistan from the 26th to 29th of April this year.
And his impending performance is being hyped up quite a lot what with tricks like him giving a shout out to Prime Minister Imran Khan.
To add more to peoples’ excitement, a video of Akon talking about Pakistan’s Diamer Basha Dam Fund was just released
The video was tweeted by the official World Soccer Stars Twitter. In the video, Akon asks people to contribute to the dam fund so that the Diamer Basha dam can be constructed and Pakistan’s water crisis can be solved.
People of #Pakistan @Akon wants YOU to start contributing for the construction of Bhasha Dam Fund. Let’s protect our future @touchskygroup #wssofficial2019 #UnitedForFootball #Pakistan pic.twitter.com/yOOJH0896n

And hearing Akon appeal for the dam fund felt surreal to a lot of people…
What will Akon and CJ sing to each other after the dam fund campaign fails?

Pakistanis have got some very entertaining jokes on his dam fund appeal
Akon: Wanna be my chammak chalo?
Imran Khan: Yes, only if you donate to my dam fund. #ImranKhan #Pakistan #Akon— Rahul Aijaz (@RaulAjz) January 14, 2019
Next up will be Akon singing “rok sako tau rok lo tabdeeeli aaai re” https://t.co/BGfQ1AnhR0

@Akon : 'according to a United Nations report, water resources in the country will dry up by 2025, so, 'I’m asking all Pakistanis living in the country and overseas to support the Diamer and Bhasha dam.' #CJP: Smack that, all on the floor.Smack that, give me some more.

Matlab, CJP ki reach hai bhaye.
What an interesting turn of events to be honest. But not very surprising, considering Akon has been involved in multiple energy-related projects across Africa so we already know he’s dedicated to energy-related initiatives.
