Forget White Walkers, Lawn Aunties Are Here And They're Fucking Scary

By Arslan Athar | 22 Mar, 2019

Lawn, and fashion, in general, is a passion point for some in this country. In some instances, it’s a nice and normal obsession, but in other instances, it’s freaking crazy. People standing in lines for hours, or rushing into stores the moment they open.

Might I remind everyone of the Aunty invasion of an Agha Noor store a few years back?

Even last year, lawn collections flew off the online shelves the moment they were available for sale.

This year is sadly, no different.

Today, Elan opened its stores to the lawn-obsessed public, and honestly, it was all out war! No, I’m not kidding, there was screaming, there was pushing and there was running.

At first, I’ll admit, I laughed, but as the video kept playing, the more shocked I became. Guards are trying to hold these women back, at one point an Elan employee tries to stop these women, but all these efforts are futile. These women gave the word ‘headstrong’ a whole new definition.

What’s scarier than this video (yes, there are scarier things in this world) is the official Elan Instagram story.

An Elan employee is going around asking women their favorite designs and they’re all replying in design codes, like off the top of their heads.

This is madness!

People had literally been lining up for this!

The fight wasn’t only at the door, it was E V E R Y W H E R E

Also, like last year, the online store is ALL SOLD OUT (minus a few designs)

This entire episode is just beyond scary and also disturbing. I say this because these women fighting and shoving each other represent an elite segment of society. We talk about how we need to have a higher sense of civic duty and become more orderly, yet we have THIS happen and we wonder where we’re going as a society.

People were left pretty disgusted by the entire affair, and rightly so!

Whenever I see instances like these, I always wonder why we can’t be more organized about things like this. This is honestly just really shameful to look at. I get it, there’s limited stock, but cheekhnay chilanay, dhukkay denay se kya milay ga? The moment the next collection drops, this thing will repeat itself.
