Fashion Pakistan Week (FPW) Spring/Summer 2019 concluded yesterday. It was three days of total madness, in the best possible way. From ghagras to over the top evening gowns, this year really had it all. Every season comes with its box of trends to follow, and this spring is no different. Here are the top trends we could see this past week, and why you might need to make a shopping trip this weekend.
1. Saris
Okay, well to be real, a good sari can never go out of style, but this FPW, multiple designers showed an array of saris. What’s not to love about one, they’re flowy, elegant and are perfect for any occasion.
2. Power Suits.
For a second season running, power suits laced with desi inspiration have shown on the runway. It might not be everyday wear but it’s definitely interesting to see power suits to make such a big impact on runways in Pakistan.
3. Menswear with a twist.
One designer, in particular, Nauman Arfeen, displayed a collection that was new for Pakistani men. Bold desi wear, with new cuts, and umm, sheer shalwars too.
4. White And Gold.
This color combination is just a classic, but this time around, designers brought it back for women and men too.
5. Western Wear.
A surprisingly large number of Pakistani designers showed collections heavily inspired by Western design sensibilities.
6. Wide-legged pants.
Shararas and Dhaka Pants definitely had a moment on the runway, and it makes TOTAL sense for that to be the case. It’s going to be hot, might as well be comfortable.
7. Metallic is definitely IN.
Metallic colors, almost holographic designs also definitely had their time in the spotlight this FPW. This is a trend that started this past winter and has continued on into spring/summer.
8. Colorblocking is FINALLY the new norm!
This season saw an EXPLOSION of color all over the place, and designers managed to make it look effortlessly chic and en vogue.
Most of these are trends that we’ve seen come and go over the years, therefore it would be safe to say that this year’s FPW did not produce something truly ‘new’. What trend are you loving for this season? Let us know 🙂
