We all remember the horrific incident of Zainab Ansari – a six-year-old Pakistani girl who was on her way to Quran recital when she was kidnapped and later found brutally raped and murdered. The incident took place in January and the murderer was hanged this week – after 10 months. There had been 12 other cases in the same vicinity of Kasur that went unnoticed.

As we celebrate the justice served to Zainab, another act of human brutality has come forward. A case similar to Zainab’s is being seen circulating around social media.
According to a local Sindhi news channel – a six-year-old girl named Zunera Hingoro from Jamshoro has been raped and abused by the son of a local police officer.
6y old Zunera Hingoro from Jamshoro raped, tortured by son of a local police official on Sep 30th. No news on any news channel, no outrage on social media. We couldn't protect Zainab but raised our voices for her until justice got served.
Plz let's do it once again for Zunera. pic.twitter.com/VTBHzkqasn— ردا (@RidhaAlii) October 17, 2018
There have been no news and no reports of the incident on any other TV channel or on social media – except for this excerpt from a newspaper and a headline on one local news channel.
People who think it's fake, IT'S NOT. It was reported on a local Sindhi news channel and newspaper. Sources attached: pic.twitter.com/DciXknXoaQ

The reason why such incidents take place casually is because of the inaction of the authorities. 12 incidents took place and only one was served justice – that too because the public outrage and protests made it hard for the authorities to let the case go unnoticed. Why does each case have to be publicized to such an extent for the authorities and the law finally decide to take notice of it? Incidents like these prove that predators committing heinous acts like these are still out there. They fear nothing and no one. And that, perhaps, is more terrifying than anything else.
