By Sarmad Amer | 16 Sep, 2017

Shahid Afridi has been a big part of the cricket culture in Pakistan. In recent years, he’s been one of the most talked about players this country has ever seen, whether it was for his ever-changing retirement announcements or his uneven performance in international cricket during the last few years. Despite everything, one thing the Shahid bhai has certainly been is entertaining.

Last night, Pakistan paid tribute to the legendary career of Shahid Afridi and the ever-graceful Misbah-ul-haq

This came during the last match of the three-match tournament with the World XI, playing the Independence Cup, in Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore

The two were driven round the stadium in rickshaws in a “lap of honor”, amidst thunderous applause from the audience

Team Pakistan took the opportunity to take a memorable photograph with the two cricketing greats

Pakistanis have been particularly thankful to Shahid Afridi for his entertaining antics

A hashtag #ThankYouAfridi has been a top trend on Twitter, in Pakistan, all day today

Fans of the cricketer have been pouring their hearts out

People are sharing their favorite moments from Afridi’s career

And of course, there are some jokesters too

But mostly there’s just lots of love being showered at a career that spanned 20 years of mad fun, extreme entertainment and super cricket

Some may be being a little too dramatic

But that’s the power of inspiring heroes who capture a nation’s hearts

And what fun that Team Pakistan won the last of the three-matches, and the series, too.

What are your favorite moments about Shahid Afridi’s career?
