Here's Why The Punjab Government Just Banned Uber and Careem

By Aam Nawab | 31 Jan, 2017

Uber and Careem have both been rising in popularity recently as more and more people have started leveraging the car-hailing apps to get around their respective cities. That was until early this morning…

City Traffic Police Lahore’s Facebook page put out a status declaring ‘all private driving companies’ illegal.

Here’s the official document:

careem uber ban

We’re no legal experts but like…WTF???

Obviously, we’re all taking this news in different ways

Bik gayee gormint?

Point maar diya

We checked out both Uber/Careem and they seem to be working for now

Also, neither Uber nor Careem have really released any statements about this decleration. Given Shehbaz Sharif’s affinity towards the IT sector, we’re all hoping this is just a misunderstanding. Shayid raat ko kissi ka phadda hogaya tha, aur narazgee mein yeh sab kar diya 😉
