When speaking to the ladies behind the book, Azmeena and Ema told MangoBaaz,
“Ema Anis: We both are absolutely crazy about everything related to art, but coloring gets us excited like a child. Even long before the “coloring for adults” trend picked up, we used to find our own ways of coloring, be it in children’s books or by drawing our own line-arts, because we found the activity so calming. A couple of years ago, we decided to illustrate our own book, but we wanted it to be as Pakistani as possible. We adore all forms of our local art and thought it would be a great way to bring exposure to how amazing our cultural artwork is.”
“Azmeena Alidina: Our book is not just a coloring book; it serves multiple purposes. We wanted to celebrate our unique, beautiful and vibrant local art, which is seemingly all around us but we fail to notice it. And by providing them in the form of colouring line-arts, we are also giving people a stress-relieving activity. And this is not just it. We have designed our illustrations in such a way that they end up into complete artworks after being coloured in. Each page in our book is perforated which means you can easily tear off the pages, frame them and use them as décor. Our book even has a game of colour-it-yourself saanp seerhi, a travel map, stamps and doodling pages. There are even postcards which you can send to your friends and loved ones!”
