Ramazan is finally here (Mubarak, friends) which means it is time to put away our gandi harketein, gandi batein and embrace our good Muslim selves. At least for this month. Probably one of the hardest things to do while fasting is getting out of bed and stuffing ourselves with food. Sounds good during the day when we’re starving but can be super challenging jab hum aadhi neend mai hotay hain. 

But we couldn’t help but jump out of bed for sehri to help out in whatever way possible after this new Surf Excel ad came out.

Featuring literally THE CUTEST KID EVER, the ad revolves around the hero of the commercial, Shahid, running out of his house to wake up his elderly neighbor in time for sehri.

Shahid is who we all want to be every sehri and definitely who we all need to be every day. The true spirit of Ramazan isn’t only to fast but also care for others and try to be a model human being.

Oh, also, did anyone notice the fact that he actually gets up and CHANGES? Like wow – talk about a super human kid. Just throwing it out there – good ads CAN be made without throwing in a wedding and a random dance number no one cares about.

It seems like we weren’t the only ones who loved the ad:

No hate, but like – dekh lo.

All jokes aside, the ad made us all super emotional because of the fact that such a small deed could teach us so much. Ramazan is about so much more than getting all dolled up for iftaari’s with our friends and overeating as much as we can. It’s about being kind to everyone around us, our friends, family, loved ones – even our neighbors.
